Not only will you have to pay twice for the game if you want it on more than one iOS device the game does not sync between devices. One problem a colleague pointed out to me after this review posted is one that's definitely worth mentioning. I appreciate that Kingdom Rush Origins is not going to nickel-and-dime you at every turn like other freemium titles, but it still seems a little steep. I personally prefer using the orc den, sure it is weak but it comes with numbers and the tier4 upgrades are good and effective. You can unlock a few of the heroes simply by playing, but if you want some of the higher-tiered heroes, you can spend as little as $1.99 on up to $6.99 - just for a hero. My own set is the weak and rapid ranged tower Bone Flingers, the strong and slow Wicked Sisters, the mobile Goblin Zeppelin, the meatshield Dark Knights and the damage-dealer Elite Harraser. The other way the game separates you from your money is with the special heroes. I really wish they would make it universal.Īndroid gets a break in pricing because it is universal to all Android devices, but keeps the lower price of the phone version ($2.99, £1.99, AU$3.79). ![]() Unfortunately, this means if you want to have it on two iOS devices you'll have to pay for each. When new monsters arrive, get an edge by reading their strengths and weaknesses. Still, it's great to find these little Easter eggs as you play. But trust me, you'll be so busy upgrading towers, directing your heroes, and using your special abilities there will be little time for horsing around. On any given map, there are tons of things to touch and press that add to the interactivity of the game. For example, you'll be able to buy a building that produces a character called the Panda Hero that is an effective addition to defend a single path. Another level has little creatures up in the trees (that look quite a lot like the Ewoks from "Star Wars") that automatically start throwing spears at your enemies as they pass by.įor added protection, you'll also find buildings already some maps that give you extra heroes to use in your defense. Some maps will have giant flowers growing at strategic points, and when they are pulsating with light, you'll be able to tap them for a single attack of several magic missiles. One of the things that makes Kingdom Rush Origins so great are all the little extras you'll find as you play. Overall just an above average tower defense game that's so fun you'll want to try the harder runs on maps to unlock more stars for upgrades.Choose your hero from the top, then upgrade his spells and abilities. Don't be afraid to poke around the environments with your touch screen, there are many useful secrets to discover. And I didn't even mention then fun "where's waldo" style artwork, smooth animation, and detailed environments. Every lover of tower defense should play this game. And on top of that, you have a reinforcements and thunder attack you can aim, and each hero gives you a third unique ability to that hero like turning enemies against each other, arrow rain, more reinforcements, or an instant kill on any one enemy. In addition to the 4 base towers, most maps have unique enviromental towers like a gnome house where you can feed gnomes and they play tricks on the invading army, a dragon nest, giant poison bulbs you can pop when enemies walk past. Not only is the core tower defense good, but the heroes you can choose from and level up add another satisfying layer to strategy as they all play vastly different. Then the specialty tower can be equipped with special attacks like AoE damage, sleep, stun, damage share and damage increase among others. While there are only 4 types of towers, they can be upgraded multiple times then evolved into one of two specialty towers depending on what you need for the level.
